OK – if you haven’t watched or heard of the Simpsons, then you’ve been buried under a rock. This classic animated TV show has been around forever – in fact, it’s the longest running American sitcom and longest running American animated program, period. Does that tell you something?!
Simpsons Box Set Review – The Story
The Simpsons follows the life and times of a typical American family – perhaps the typical American Family. Bart Simpson, arguably the lead, is a mischief maker and a rebel – and lovable at that. He’s sometime downright rude – so watch out for that. Homer Simpson is Mr. Average Dad. He’s not too smart but he loves his family and does his ignorant best. His wife Marge is way too good for him – as is her trademark bright blue beehive haircut. His sister Lisa is too smart for them all and a great sax player to boot. Somehow, even with their little Maggie who doesn’t say much (she is still sucking on a pacifier all these years later), they get into and out of heaps of hilarious trouble.
What you get
So you cannot get one MEGA Simpsons Box Set to my knowledge – you have to get them season by season. So I’ve linked you here to Amazon.com where you can get a great price and a solid returns policy if you don’t love a particular season.
In Season 13, for example, you get 4 Discs and 484 minutes of TV. That’s four hundred and eighty four minutes! What a great deal! You’ll be laughing for days and days and weeks and weeks.
What I Love
I love the laughing. I love watching the show again and again and not really running into one I’ve seen before because there are simply so many!
Most of all, I love the crazy characters. Almost anything voiced by Hank Azaria is golden. I love Homer Simpson’s boss and the crazy, somehow cynical view of mainstream America. It’s funny because it’s true, right?!
What I Dislike
OK – so here’s the thing. I love this show – I laugh until I cry. I love the madcap antics and the fact that there are 23 seasons to feed my addiction. Here’s what I don’t like – I don’t like it when my kids model Bart Simpsons. The kid is clearly not well behaved – at least not often – and so my children have a hard time not picking up his behavior. So I prefer to watch this with my kids rather than letting them go at it alone. Then again – what show doesn’t have something to be wary of?
Long story short – if you want to sit back and laugh – buy the Simpsons Box Set. Simple, right?!
