Now I don’t know about you but I grew up to James Bond. I can remember the first time my Dad ever took me to a movie – we saw Octopussy at the cinema. We got in a little late and I didn’t get to see the opening credits until we bought the box set. Amazing!
The Different Sets
Anyway, there’s no question that James Bond is a must have box set collection. The question is, which box set do you buy?
Actually – it’s pretty easy. You can get the big box set with everything (up to the release year of 2007) or you can split it into four volumes. Obviously when you get the big box you get the best overall deal. If, however, you want to buy it in small chunks then the four breakouts are good.
This box set includes the following movies
- Dr. No
- From Russia with Love
- You Only Live Twice
- On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
- Diamonds are Forever
- Live and Let Die
- The Man with the Golden Gun
- The Spy Who Loved Me
- For Your Eyes Only
- A View to a Kill
- The Living Daylights
- Licence to Kill
- Tomorrow Never Dies
- The World is Not Enough
- Die Another Day
- Casino Royale
Of course, the next question comes – which James Bond actor do you like? Starting from the beginning, the following actors have taken up the James Bond mantle –
- Sean Connery
- George Lazenby
- Roger Moore
- Timothy Dalton
- Pierce Brosnan
- Daniel Craig
So who is my favorite? The very first one I saw at the movies with my Dad – Roger Moore. I quite like Pierce Brosnan also. The Daniel Craig movies are a little too gritty, too violent and realistic for my taste.
So I give James Bond five stars out of five as a box set – no question.
There are one or two little caveats.
- I cannot show the Daniel Craig movies to my children. The kids will have to grow up a little!
- Also – the George Lazenby movie was a bit of a waste of time.
Having said that, we watch these movies over and over and over again! Go Sean Connery! Go Roger Moore! Go Pierce Brosnan! And the occasional Timothy Dalton doesn’t hurt, either.
