OK so I may as well admit it right now – I’m a fan of the best TV situation comedy series ever – Friends. I know Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey intimately. I was saddened when, after ten amazing years, the series ended. I watch the box set over and over and over again.
What you get
When you crack the box open, you’re going to get 236 episodes on 40 separate DVDs, along with a bunch of extra interviews and insights. That’s over 5,000 minutes = 80 hours of programming! What a great deal. That must be why there are over 250 5-star reviews on Amazon. Amazing!
And of course, you get the amazing story of six young friends living in New York city. The six of them find each other in the first episode, basing themselves in the Central Perk cafe right next to Central Park. Most of the action takes place in that cafe and in their various apartments nearby. What I can guarantee is that you’ll be laughing from the first episode to the last, connecting with these wonderful, warm characters.
And then you’ll find yourself using ‘Friends’ lingo during the course of your everyday life. Hardly a day goes by when my wife doesn’t start a sentence with ‘You remember the episode when …’!
The Friends television sitcom was performed by one of the sweetest, most talented ensemble casts I’ve yet seen. And they were well paid too – receiving over a million dollar a piece for each episode by the time the series was done. The series is still playing repeats on prime time TV – at least where I live!
The ensemble was made up of
– Ross Geller played by David Schwimmer
– Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston
– Monica Green played by Courteney Cox
– Phoebe Buffay played by Lisa Kudrow
– Chandler Bing played by Matthew Perry
– Joey Tribbiani played by Matt LeBlanc
All have gone on to have successful movie and television careers as actors, producers and directors.
The Friends Box Set is an absolute must have. We’ve watch the series over and over again – right from the very beginning to the very end. I’d hazard that my relationship with my wife is in good shape in part because we laugh, cuddle and connect in front of the Friends Box Set. Even our kids love this – and there’s nothing we ever have to be worried about showing them – it’s just great comedy straight up. I love it!
